Velib-crazy

After a weekend cycling round Paris on Velibs, from rugby matches to birthday parties - hang on: ENGLAND KNOCKED THE AUSSIES OUT OF THE RUGBY WORLD CUP (sorry Helen ;) ) - I was inspired to photograph a couple of products on the loveworn map of Paris that we cart everywhere with us.

Bow bells earrings between Bastille and Pere Lachaise...

Bow selecta brooch rather pleasingly matches the cover colours...

I blame the rugby for the girly bow theme, in a reaction to hours spent watching hotly-fought quarter-finals this weekend.

My sister and her boyfriend came to stay for the weekend and joined us on the bikes. They bought us a lovely present for our bathroom which they had made:

(Excuse the tables of Russian verbs next to the medicine cabinet.) The lizard canvas was made from an image from our holiday in Italy last month and we love it, thank you! xx I especially love his little sucker-feet, it turned out really well. An Etsy shop of original and bespoke design work on canvas is in the works.

off with her head brooch

Easily pleased, I really like the way this turned out. And the pics too, which makes a change as I never get to say that.

Cannes Cannes Tiffany's

The fruits of a little flurry of silver screen-inspired activity are now up on etsy. Up first is this croisette ribbon with a little delicate strass and sparkle for understated elegance as you walk the red carpet:

My fave is the Audrey Hepburn me booch, featuring pearls and tiny little ballet pumps for le complete look:
...and plenty of other sellers have gone a little Audrey as well. Kinichi River's beautiful silver bracelet sets off pedal pushers and a cute white T, while this perfectly proportioned retro shopper is just the right size for a girl's essentials, at SaraKate. The Audrey prize has to go to this beautiful necklace however, by Oldbutnew. Too bad it's sold out...

Beavering away

Sarah went on a mad jewellery-making binge while I was in London at the weekend, she has made some wonderful stuff, so show us some love and click, click, click away...

This was my favourite item a couple of days ago, an upcycled necklace with vintage eagle charm and pearl-look beads...

However, like a fickle friend I have since transferred my affections to this fab Bambi-inspired necklace...

The Something Borrowed, Something Blue brooch also gets a place near the top of the list...

Anyway as this is an exercise in complicated French tax-return avoidance, I had better get back to it I guess...

Yay for Firefox!

Firefox gets a best in show rosette for solving all my browser problems in one fell swoop. Now I can use javascript sites and even see all the wisywig icons I need. Well thank goodness for that.

I could easily work myself up into an anti-Microsoft rant, but it would be neither helpful nor interesting, so instead I will mention that there's a huge craft fair in Paris at the moment called Creativa which I haven't been able to go to... Let me know how it was, les crafteuses.

Beautiful buttons from Venice...

Loving these gorgeous vintage buttons at the moment, Kate is using them in lots of her pieces. They came all the way from a Venice flea market, sourced by the lovely Johnson family. I love the pretty colours they chose...

Best in show

Inspired by the comedy of the same name (in a way) Kate knocked this little baby up the other night and is frankly, quite pleased with it... Looks fab on a cropped blazer with skinnies, but leave your straw boater in its hat box perhaps!
