angel wing kerching

I just posted this on our Etsy shop and I love it... Ckeavage-skimmingly great with fine luxe knits and slinky deep V-necks for drifting about in a Lou Doillon kinda way.

Haute couture week in Paris

A season full of rival anniversaries - John Galliano celebrating ten years at Dior as the label clocks up sixty, Christian Lacroix ringing in twenty years and Valentino ditching Paris for Rome as he plans the party of all parties for the 45th anniversary of his fashion house - was always going to involve retro frocks and the words 'in hommage to' gracing just about every catwalk report going. But amid the hair pulling over who threw the best anniversary soiree were some of the gems the Paris couture audience rely on to justify next year's front-row seat. Here are a few...

Gisele does stunning forties Film Noir for Dior...

A little later we have My Fair Lady on acid...

The Chanel team soldiered on depsite the incessant rain, with some beautiful cutting:

...and questionable eyewear:

But amongst the big-hitters it was relative newcomer Elie Saab who showed couture for couture, showcasing his skill on the cutting table and texture know-how:

What Font Are You? (Standard Fonts)

Lucida Calligraphy - You tend towards the arts. You tend to stand out in a crowd and have your own style. Be careful not to be too aloof, however.

Lucida calligraphy... Well that's a shame.
It looks like it should be on an invitation to a garden party in the Home Counties. Couldn't Quizilla (yes, am killing time and Pepperina Press gave me the perfect excuse) find something to express 'you tend towards the arts' better? like... uh bauhaus 93 or something...

Cannes Cannes Tiffany's

The fruits of a little flurry of silver screen-inspired activity are now up on etsy. Up first is this croisette ribbon with a little delicate strass and sparkle for understated elegance as you walk the red carpet:

My fave is the Audrey Hepburn me booch, featuring pearls and tiny little ballet pumps for le complete look:
...and plenty of other sellers have gone a little Audrey as well. Kinichi River's beautiful silver bracelet sets off pedal pushers and a cute white T, while this perfectly proportioned retro shopper is just the right size for a girl's essentials, at SaraKate. The Audrey prize has to go to this beautiful necklace however, by Oldbutnew. Too bad it's sold out...

Beavering away

Sarah went on a mad jewellery-making binge while I was in London at the weekend, she has made some wonderful stuff, so show us some love and click, click, click away...

This was my favourite item a couple of days ago, an upcycled necklace with vintage eagle charm and pearl-look beads...

However, like a fickle friend I have since transferred my affections to this fab Bambi-inspired necklace...

The Something Borrowed, Something Blue brooch also gets a place near the top of the list...

Anyway as this is an exercise in complicated French tax-return avoidance, I had better get back to it I guess...
