With a cape of Harris Tweed

Listening to an item on Woman's Hour on Harris Tweed, which has taken me back to a very peaceful break on Harris earlier this year during which my sister and I bought Harris Tweed capes, sported proudly in the photo above, in the front garden of the croft we stayed in.

Harris Tweed warehouse and shop near the quayside in Tarbet.
Harris Tweed is spun, woven and dyed in the Outer Hebrides using wool from the islands and is known around the world for its quality, protected by Parliament with the Orb mark, now 100 years old. Individual weavers work on looms at home to make cloth under the Harris Tweed Authority, which is then sold on in more than 40 countries and has featured in the work of designers like Alexander McQueen, Calvin Klein and Vivienne Westwood.

Wearing my cape makes me happy.

Talking Japanese

New from AO3 is this fab handbag. Tomato red is one of my new favourite colours, so I thought I'd feature it. Plus, I love handbags.

Then I went to check out her shop and found the gorgeous clutch as well, yum:
Looks like kimono fabric for the lovely muted colours - check out pink milk's own vintage kimono fabric corsages, or which there is only one left and at the bargain price of $7.50 to you, darlin'.

Whil we're talking Japanese, I just came across sakurakittycreatives, with lovely little birdy barettes:

So that's what I'm loving this week. Looking forward to a quiet weekend, so more to come then.

Delightful little cards!

Am very excited today about our gorgeous little stationary set listed by Sarah over the weekend. Red Riding Hood notelets in a vintage fabric case, so cute, so perfect for your (a little late perhaps, but hey, I still haven't sent all of mine out so you're not alone in your tardiness) thank-you notes after Christmas.

Mint Prints

Sarah sent me some fabrics a few weeks ago and I have yet to do anything with them. Check the pretty prints, I was going to make some sort of little person with the different colourways of the apple print... or purse... or something else entirely...

This one is my favourite, in a 1950s circle skirt kinda way:

Thursday is a bank holiday here in France and my company closes for Friday too, so I'm planning a lovely day of me-activities, involving reading in cafes and pottering round Paris going to exhibitions (Les Annees Folles on 20s fashion at the Galliera museum or the Weegee exhibition at the Maillol museum *I just checked and I've missed it, gah* or an afternoon showing of Largerfed Confidentiel to throw popcorn at him the possibilities are endless) followed by reading and dozing on the sofa... and then a weekend. Love it.
